Sony has announced that Secret Agent Clank, developed by High Impact Games, will be hitting PSPs on June 17.

The game is a new installment in the Ratchet & Clank series, but this time Clank is going solo. As it has not yet officially been announced details are thin, but in Secret Agent Clank, Ratchet has been imprisoned and you have to clear his name by going all James Bond spy-like.

For the first time in the Ratchet & Clank series, our diminutive robotic hero Clank takes the lead - starring in his own hilarious game as the world’s greatest undercover agent.

The game follows the exploits of co-star Clank as he tries to spring his more prominent buddy from jail using the skills he’s learned through his secret alignment with an intergalactic espionage agency.

Clank has a few ranged attacks, but the emphasis in the new game has clearly shifted from past Ratchet & Clank games to focus on Clank’s arsenal of punches, kicks and stealth takedowns.

Naturally, Clank has also a range of the kinds of gadgets spies are reputed to wield, such as cuff-link bombs and rocket shoes.

The game will feature a variety of new vehicles and weapons as well, and the gameplay is a mix of platforming, stealth, and puzzle-solving.
